Carolyn Ussher, MSW
My name is Carolyn and I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) and Psychotherapist. I hold a Master of Social Work, a Bachelor of Social Work, and a Bachelor of Arts with 30 years of experience in the Social Work field. I am trained in a variety of evidence based, therapeutic approaches such as:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Mindfulness Based Practices
Body-Oriented Trauma Counselling
Motivational Interviewing
Trauma-Informed Counselling
I remain committed to supporting people as they work through the day-to-day stresses of life and relationships. I believe that in creating a safe, non-judgmental space with clients, we can explore painful experiences and emotions so that we can move towards healing and living a values-based life. My practice is trauma informed and is grounded in compassion, choice, and curiosity. My hope is that through our work together, you will develop ways to reduce personal suffering while enhancing self compassion, healing, and wellness.
Taylor Booth, MA
My name is Taylor and I’m a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Certificate in Children’s Mental Health, and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I work with individuals aged 10 and older, including children, teens, and adults. My approach blends a variety of evidence-based therapies, including:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)
Trauma-Informed Therapy
In our sessions, you’ll find a safe and non-judgmental space where we can explore your emotions and experiences at your own pace. My goal is to ensure that each step of your journey feels supportive and empowering. Just like my name, I’ll make sure our work is tailored to fit your unique needs. Together, we can identify your core values and develop coping strategies that allow you to live in alignment with those values, even when faced with challenges.
Dr. Sara Schleien
My name is Sara, and I am a psychologist licensed by the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. I hold a Doctorate in Psychology, a Master of Applied Science in Developmental Communication Science, and an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
For over 20 years, I have worked within school boards and private practice settings, supporting individuals and families in understanding learning, development, and mental health. I currently work with the Durham District School Board. As such, I am not able to provide services to students enrolled in this board, and would want to connect with you first if you are a DDSB colleague seeking services for yourself.
I will be offering services through Aware Counselling and Therapy, working with adults (18+) seeking psychological assessments. These may include exploring neurodivergence (such as ADHD and/or autism), learning disabilities, and mental health concerns.
My approach is collaborative, respectful, and centred on your unique experiences and goals. Together, we will choose assessment tools that will answer the questions you have, with a focus on helping you better understand yourself in a meaningful and empowering way. I practice from a trauma-informed perspective and aim to create a process that feels transparent and supportive—while assessments use standardized methods, I will ensure you have the information, choice, and pace you need to feel prepared and comfortable throughout.
I look forward to the possibility of working together.
Your healing is already within you. We’re here to help.
